Mfg/Test Engineer

Business Unit: GE Industrial, SecurityFunction: ManufacturingResponsibilities: * Design, develop, document and maintain production test equipment, programs and procedures. Evaluate new product performance, testability and specifications Assist in fabrication and test of new product samples. Teach and assist technicians with product and equipment repairs Interface with Design Engineering, Purchasing, Planning, Quality, Manufacturing, and external resources on a regular basis. Specify and/or recommend test equipment and fixtures. Occasionally, write and monitor Appropriation Requests for Capital Equipment. Provides engineering support by troubleshooting production problems and effecting timely solutions to maintain the continuity of production flow Effectively interfaces with manufacturing and support team individuals to design manufacturing processes/improvements within schedule and budgetary parameters. Reviews and recommends changes to mechanical drawings and process documentation, providing concept drawings and cost estimates Interfaces with other manufacturing and support groups to address and resolve manufacturing and engineering issues. Interfaces with vendors and outside sales personnel to evaluate, cost estimate, and select purchase parts and vendor tooling. Implements production layouts and ergonomic workstations addressing work flow and safety requirements. Work with Engineering Services/Purchasing/Planning maintaining engineering data
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: - Must have BSEE, or approved equivalent. Minimum of 3 years related experience as a Manufacturing or Test Engineer (manufacturing environment preferred). PC application knowledge (Microsoft Office) plus programming experience in "C", Visual Basic, or HP Basic. Autocad is desirable. Ability to read, interpret and create schematic drawings and technical documents. Self motivated individual with good troubleshooting skills.
