Mfg Engineer - Plating/Materials - Optimization & Control
Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: Manufacturing support of new and existing radiation detection product lines including, but not limited to:
In-core and ex-core nuclear sensors.
Industrial sensors include: Scintillation detectors and helium-3 detectors
New Products/Processes.
Participate in NPI programs consisting of design development, CTQ development, design reviews and manufacturing implementation.
Optimize manufacturing processes utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methodology relative to design for manufacturability.
Coordinate and analyze results from pilot runs of new product designs.
Write MP's and SOP's for new products and processes.
Define/develop equipment, tooling, gauges, fixtures as required necessary to manufacture new product(s).
Train production personnel on manufacturing procedures/methods for new designs.
Develop procedures and acceptance criteria for testing new designs.
Ensure testing capability matches customer requirements/CTQ's.
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with EHS standards.
Conform to ISO 9001-2000 standards.
Sustaining Engineering:
Diagnose and troubleshoot existing designs and manufacturing processes.
Train production personnel in proper manufacturing procedures/methods.
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with EHS standards.
Maintain and improve equipment, tooling, gauges, fixtures as required for existing product designs.
Ensure testing capability matches customer requirements/CTQ's.
Document design and process improvements utilizing MP's and SOP's.
Utilize lean manufacturing tools to effectively integrate product design into manufacturing.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: * BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
1+ years experience with electrochemistry.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Must be able to interact successfully with production operators and work well in groups.
Proficient personal computer skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects as an individual contributor, self-starter.
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes (inspection, assembly, materials, packaging etc.).Desired: * 3+ years experience with electroplating systems.
Experience fixture design utilizing Solid Works or equivalent.
Project management experience.
