Medical Terminology Engineer
Business Unit: GE HealthcareFunction: MedicalResponsibilities: The role of the medical terminology engineer is a new exciting position created in the Engineering organization of the Enterprise Clinical Information System project between Intermountain Healthcare and GE Healthcare IT business. This individual will play a key role in the engineering team working on the Clinical Infrastructure program that is the informatics platform between the various modules that are being developed by the many sub-teams that are working on the Enterprise Clinical Information System across GE Healthcare and Intermountain Health Care. As part of the responsibilities for this role, they will also be responsible for developing and delivering semantically consistent and efficient terminology and services between the various business and clinical modules of the ECIS. You can also expect your efforts and work product to be scalable across the multiple segments in GE Healthcare as well as other P&Ls within GE Healthcare.The person on this position will be responsible for the development, implementation, validation, and maintenance of clinical terminologies and data models that are used by the ECIS Engineering team. This person will also provide support to analysts and software developers during the analysis, design, implementation, testing, validation, and ongoing development operations. This position requires excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and superior verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and be exceptionally attentive to detail. Broad knowledge of clinical concepts, including an understanding of the basic types of information used in a healthcare/clinical environment, and also details of how clinical data are produced, consumed, and transformed. Knowledge of relational database systems with demonstrable ability to create, run, and test SQL queries.~HJ~
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelors degree in Clinical Sciences, Informatics, or related field, with at least 2 years of recent experience in a clinical setting as a practicing clinician.Previous work experience with terminology and data modeling, including effective knowledge of existing medical terminologies and related principles.
A working knowledge of Medical Informatics standards.
A working knowledge of Oracle and related RDBMS tools.
Previous work experience with software development, including requirements gathering, use cases and programming.
Previous work experience with XML technologies and UNIX text processing tools and related scripting languages.
You must be willing to take a drug test.
You must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background.Desired: Clinical experience .
Clinical Degree/Project Management training with exposure to patient care or significant healthcare experience preferred.
Previous experience working with Intermountain Healthcare or Mayo Clinic would be preferred.
High energy, self-starter, with a proven track record in delivering results.
Excellent time management and multi-tasking capabilities.
