Purpose:
I am seeking a Mechanical Engineering Designer with experience in AutoCAD and SolidWorks to draft and design complex mechanical equipment and its components for an industry leading manufacturer in the forest products industry.

This individual will act as a project lead for mechanical engineering design teams. A minimum of two (preferably five) years experience with mechanical drafting and/or design is required. Sawmill industry expertise is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

-Interacts with customers, vendors, suppliers and management when gathering product specifications and translates these to designs that can be used by manufacturing for product development.
-Provides feedback on design estimates and price quotes to ensure accuracy.
-Drafts and designs product components and parts for complex mechanical equipment.
-Prepares circuit diagrams, schematics, parts breakdowns and documents required by manufacturing.
-Reviews technical data, measurements and specifications available in catalogues, brochures and spreadsheets and translate this information into appropriate drawings.
-Reviews related equipment and market requirements and makes design modifications to continuously improve product quality.
-Interacts with related internal groups to ensure designs and specifications meet their integrated needs.
-Mentors and directs junior mechanical engineering design team members and/or support personnel as needed.
-Acts as a point of contact for clients and may be responsible for troubleshooting issues related to product designs.
