The Coop will work at the Sherburn County Electrical Generating Plant (Between St. Cloud and Minneapolis, MN). Two Coop positions are available, one running from January - August 2007 and the other from May - December 2007. Successful candidates will gain experience with ASME code compliance, practical metallurgy, plant engineering and project/construction management. Through practical field experience and mentoring will also gain significant professional confidence and people skills. 75% of the work will be project engineering and construction management work. 25% of the work will be involved with our pressure vessel maintenance program and will be very materials/repair process related.Xcel Energy reflects our core value - excellence in energy products and services. REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must have academic training at an ABET accredited school-preferably at a Sophomore or Junior level in Mechanical Engineering. Must be participating in a co-op program at their school. The applicant must be self- motivated, have good mechanical aptitude, and work well with others. Must be able to work in a power plant environment (stairs, grating, heights, confined spaces, heat and noise).
