Mechanical Engineer Mgr -Cooper Power
Purpose: Founded in 1985, Cooper Power Systems (CPS), with its combination of McGraw-Edison, Kyle, RTE and Kearney product lines, provides an unequaled array of products for substation, overhead, underground and in-plant medium and high voltage distribution systems. Their products include transformers, capacitors, voltage regulators, reclosers and sectionalizers, distribution switchgears, transformer fluids, distribution automation equipment, transformer components, components and protective equipment. Electric utility companies use these products to bring electric power to homes, industries, businesses, and institutions throughout the world . Due to the market demand, Cooper Power Systems is looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer Manager.
The responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer Manager include, but are not limited to:
-Global functional leadership in Mechanical Engineering Technologies to drive new generations of the Global Distribution Switchgear products
-Leads global engineering team (10-15 people) team to drive innovation, develop technology roadmaps and platforms to be incorporated into the multi generational switchgear product roadmaps.
-Technology roadmaps and platforms must deliver world class quality, customer centric features, and business profitability
-Drives development of a new platforms based designs with clear goals for product reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability for customer delight
-Identifies technology risks and mitigation plans, and carries out changes to plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved
-Identifies next generation opportunities and relevant technology and develops plans to exploit them
-Continuously develops, mentors, coaches, and grows engineering team globally to achieve world class performance and expertise including but not limited to engineering mechanics, stored energy mechanisms, and materials
-Continuously identifies and executes upon opportunities to increase engineering efficiency and effectiveness; reduces new product development cycle and time to market
-Responsible for programs staffing, budget, and conflict resolution
-Effectively collaborates with marketing, manufacturing, and sourcing functions on product requirements, design features, and service
-Constantly monitors and improves performance of team to ensure it meets company objectives
Position Qualifications:
-BS ? Mechanical Engineering, MS or PhD preferred
-Experience in engineering mechanics developing dynamic systems and components and related technologies
-Experience as a Functional Manager/Leader/Chief engineer
-Working knowledge of design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability
-Knowledge of power systems and / or industrial automation & controls
-Black Belt certification or training
-Demonstrated ability to develop and grow functional teams
-Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills
-Experience operating successfully in matrix organization is a plusClassification:Direct HireCompensation:
