Mechanical Engineer III - Ordnance

Western Design, a subsidiary of Meggitt Defense Systems and a leader in the design, development and production of ammunition handling systems and environmental control systems, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer in our Ordnance Engineering Division. The Mechanical Engineer will carry out engineering assignments concerned with the design of mechanically functioning equipment and processes. Responsible for monitoring production, installation, operation, maintenance, test and repair of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and processes.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidate will have 5-7 years experience designing and developing complex electro-mechanical robotic systems for the defense industry. Experience as a lead engineer a plus. Understanding of military specifications and environment desired, MIL-STD-100 drawing practices preferred. ASME Y14.5 standard desired. Operational experience with test equipment a plus. Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals required. Requires strong oral/written communication skills. Must be able to prepare written technical procedures and reports. Looking for a hands-on team player with the ability to work independently and with interdepartmental teams. Must be eligible to obtain DoD Security Clearance.
