Mechanical Engineer-Cooper Power

Purpose: Founded in 1985, Cooper Power Systems (CPS), with its combination of McGraw-Edison, Kyle, RTE and Kearney product lines, provides an unequaled array of products for substation, overhead, underground and in-plant medium and high voltage distribution systems. Their products include transformers, capacitors, voltage regulators, reclosers and sectionalizers, distribution switchgears, transformer fluids, distribution automation equipment, transformer components, components and protective equipment. Electric utility companies use these products to bring electric power to homes, industries, businesses, and institutions throughout the world . Due to the market demand, Cooper Power Systems is looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer.

The responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer include, but are not limited to:

-Team member to develop mechanical systems, subsystems, and components for a new generations of the Global Distribution Switchgear products
-Drives creativity and innovation in development and implementation technology roadmaps and platforms to be incorporated into the multi generational switchgear product roadmaps
-Always focus on delighting the customer ? product reliability and life cycle cost
-Continuously develops and grows technology skills
-Identifies risks and mitigation plans, and carries out changes to plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved
-Continuously seeks to improve and optimize quality and cost of the products
-Participates in quality and cost improvement projects
-Effectively collaborates within engineering team and other cross functional teams


Position Qualifications:

-BS ? Mechanical Engineering
-Experience in Power Engineering is a plus
-Experience designing molded components, stampings, and stored energy mechanisms
-Knowledge of engineering kinematics and material engineering is a plus
-Strong working knowledge of computer modeling and FEA
-Strong working knowledge of Inventor/AutoCAD
-Knowledge of power systems and / or industrial automation & controls is a plus
-Excellence in analytical skills
-Working knowledge of design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability
-Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional environment
-Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills
-Experience operating successfully in matrix organization is a plusClassification:Direct HireCompensation:
