Mechanical Engineer - Blades Engineer

Purpose: Our client, the world leader in wind turbine technology, is seeking a Blades Engineer to join their North American team in Portland, Oregon as part of the structures group within the Engineering department, providing engineering expertise relating to wind turbine blades for service and product development. This is a direct placement position.

Essential job functions include:

- Participates in corrective action teams to analyze and resolve field failures of blades and other components of wind turbine generators.
- Coordinates with CIM case handlers in Denmark to evaluate, troubleshoot and provide solutions to blade issues in North America.
- Performs failure analysis and root cause identification for wind turbine blade issues.
- Creates work instructions for evaluation and repair of damaged blades.
- Provides technical support for sale, procurement and installation of wind turbine blades.
- Provides input to company policy relative to product quality affecting North American product installations.
- Provides ongoing technical support for in-service wind turbine generators as needed.

Education, training and skills required include:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering required.
- 5 years experience working with aerodynamic structures.
- Experience or strong familiarity with root cause analysis.
- Experience with formal quality assurance/control systems.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Project management or other relative leadership experience.
- Knowledge of construction practices beneficial.
- Knowledge of North American safety codes (OSHA, ANSI, CSA) beneficial
