Mechanical Drafter/Designer

Purpose: The Mechanical Drafter will be responsible for preparing or modifying detail and assembly drawings from sketches, drawings or instructions, from the Manufacturing Department, using SolidWorks. They will assist Manufacturing in the design, development, and changes of mechanical drawings, component drawings and assemblies; verify dimensions, design layout and detail. The candidate will also work on assignments that are complex in nature, where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. They will maintain, coordinate, and control engineering configuration management tool PDMWorks. (May undertake limited mechanical design in support of mechanical engineers).


Requirements:

-AA/AS degree in drafting or engineering technology, and five years of appropriate drafting experience using SolidWorks computer design, drafting tools; or equivalent combination of related education and experience
-Demonstrated ability to read and understand schematics and engineering drawings
-Knowledge of design specifications and manufacturing processes
-Proficiency with PDMWorks
-Demonstrated ability to communicate engineering concepts in written and verbal form
-SolidWorks solid modeling
-Geometric dimensioning and tolerance knowledge
-Design experience in sheet metal and machined parts
-Knowledge of manufacturing materials and techniques
