Mechanical Development Engineer

Daktronics is recognized worldwide as a leader in the large display industry. The company designs, manufactures, sells, and services a variety of display products in three primary markets: sports, commercial, and transportation.
1.Job Responsibilities:
2.Participate in the design phase of new products to offer insight on how manufacturing processes/techniques and lean manufacturing concepts will contribute to new designs.
3.Support of product development/enhancement through:
a.Pro/E
b.Prototyping and pre-production builds
c.Testing and data evaluation
d.Acting as a liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering
4.Determine new product flow through manufacturing
5.Contribute to the Daktronics reference base with design and process documentation
6.Become knowledgeable of company policies and procedures
7.Work effectively as a team member; work with little supervision; help where and when needed; make and implement suggestions for product and process improvement; communicate effectively with team members. Use good judgments in difficult situations.
8.Consistently complete work in a timely manner.
9.Regularly and reliably work the scheduled shift.
10.Delegate to and coordinate work with assistants and students.
11.Personal growth and continued increase in contribution.
REQUIREMENTS
1.Experience with AutoCAD and Pro/E required
2.Knowledge of general drafting practices required
3.General computer skills and Microsoft Office knowledge are essential
4.Education: Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, agricultural engineering, or equivalent.
5.Knowledge of Daktronics’ products is preferred
6.Organizational, planning, and creative problem solving skills
7.Technical writing ability
8.Possess strong verbal and excellent written communication skills, ability to work well with others, ability to work independently with minimum supervision, ability and willingness to work on a variety of tasks, ability to learn by reading.
9.Detail and documentation oriented
10.Effectively work with a wide variety of people in a professional manner
11.Dedication and desire for quality performance
12.Demonstrated ability to take responsibility
13.Willing and able to travel via air and ground transportation. Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
14.Able to work on job sites and assist with installations. This may include climbing ladders, working at various heights, carrying equipment (50 lbs or more) and working outdoors. Work with some odors (paint/adhesives/welding/solder). Color vision and good visual acuity preferred.
15.Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
