We currently have a position available for Manufacturing Engineer. A major supplier of high quality Pointing, Guidance, Control and Positioning equipment for satellites, artillery, and launch vehicles, serving the military, commercial and government markets. The division's products and capabilities include Fiber Optic Gyros, Ring Laser Gyros, Momentum and Reaction Wheel Assemblies, Control Moment Gyros, Tactical Inertial Measurement Unit, Position Navigation Units and Fire Control and Digital Battlefield Solutions. Space & Navigation has provided state-of-the-art systems for critical and strategically important space and national defense programs as well as being the premier supplier of precision pointing and position location systems for the US Army.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
Responsible for the development, maintenance and improvement of production processes, methods, tools and equipment used in the manufacturing of various electronic assemblies, fabricated parts or equipment.
Develops and maintains step-by-step work instructions for the assembly of circuit cards, as well as, sub and top-level assemblies.
Generates and maintains General Manufacturing Specifications such as but not limited to, tinning of components, cleaning and baking of circuit cards, machine wave soldering, conformal coating, etc. for use during process prove-out and during production of a product.
Performs as a liaison with Engineering to initiate producibility and/or design change requests.
Develops Special Operation Directives (SOD’s), which detail step-by-step instructions for disassembly, troubleshooting and re-assembly for units requiring rework.
Creates labor work standards for all work to be performed by the production workforce, including the time to build, test and inspect various assemblies.
Responsible for on the job training (OJT) of the production workforce (wireformers, final assemblers and potters) with emphasis on achieving operator self-reliance in the circuit card, sub-assembly and final assembly of the product.
Develop facility layouts utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques to minimize equipment requirements and non-value added steps during in-process workflow.
Assists during the development of a product to ensure proper compliance of the design for integration with existing processes or the development of new processes required for production of a product.

Experienced in developing work instructions (SOD’s, OI’s and Method Sheets).
Knowledgeable on IPC/EIA J STD 001 Electronic Assembly standards and best practices.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED/SOUGHT:
Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Management degree or equivalent experience is required. Minimum of 3-5 years in a manufacturing/production environment with related experience. In addition, a strong familiarity of the documentation control required for space-flight hardware is preferred.
