BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides centralized leadership in the Computer Integrated Manufacturing technology area for multiple facilities including long term strategic direction, internal subject matter expertise and all levels of internal coordination as well as external source management. Seeks out, designs, develops and integrates new technology into the product and manufacturing process. Supports manufacturing operations and manages special projects as directed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides high level technical support for major CNC manufacturing equipment including standardization, training, technical assistance with major changes and/or equipment failures and continuous improvement activities.
· Investigates and recommends new or improved machinery, methods and systems for continuous improvement in productivity, yield, inventory reduction and waste elimination.
· Interfaces with machinery and equipment suppliers concerning specifications, quotes, terms, delivery and installation. Negotiates long term relationship agreements and LZB specific technology protection.
· Supports manufacturing strategic planning with capability and capacity analysis, sourcing recommendations, capital budgeting and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
· Provides simultaneous engineering support to R and D in the development of new or changed product providing DFM and DFA input.
· Assists manufacturing facilities in the review and preparation of R&A’s for capital projects.
· Develops models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications, systems and processes.
· Designs & recommends implementation of improved procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
· Minimum of seven years experience in computer integrated manufacturing with a history of continued increased scope and responsibility.
· Experienced in computer based manufacturing systems including machine code programming, CNC programming. CAD / CAM systems and interfaces.
· Experience with any or all of the following is highly beneficial: SolidWorks CAD, Baumer Poly Foam Cutters, Shoda Multi Head Wood Routers and Gerber Fabric Cutters.
· Must have worked within a certified ISO Quality Management System environment
· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
· Experience needed in multi-level, multi-component Bills of Material and MRP systems.
· Working knowledge of product/process improvement tools such as VSM, DFM and DFA.
· Must be able to travel 35-55% of time, some international.
· Experience with product design and development support, parametric design a plus
