The purpose of this job is to improve yields and processes throughout the manufacturing area. The expectation is to provide the customer with a more robust product and internally through these improvements to lower cost and improve margins. In addition this position is to enhance the smooth flow of new products and programs into manufacturing as they become higher volume and move out of the R & D and prototype areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Maintains safety, product quality, and manufacturing effectiveness through daily troubleshooting and resolution of process difficulties. Optimizes manufacturing processes to provide sustainable gains in cost effectiveness and product performance through capital projects, statistical analysis, designed experiments, and procedural changes. Works with customers to resolve technical/quality issues and provide special products. Participates in multi-functional teams (industrial staff, R&D, Marketing) o resolve problems and develop new products. Leads where appropriate. Gets involved with concurrent product development. Starts-up new products and equipment (supervises installation, troubleshoots initial production, ensures new processes and products meet requirements, documents and transfers to Production). Conducts quality planning. Supervises engineering assistants and industrial staff as needed. Sr. Engineers may supervise an entry-level engineer.
REQUIREMENTS
BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent BS degree in other science, plus 1- 3 years demonstrated professional level engineering experience with manufacturing processes. Familiarity with MS Office software. Good written and oral communication skills. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:3-5 plus years process engineering experience. Experience with screen printing, converting processes. Project management experience.
