Manual Machinist

Purpose: We are currently seeking a Manual Machinist for the world's leading automation company. This company designing and manufacturing advanced factory automation systems, custom automation equipment, standard automation products and turn-key assembly machinery, as well as high-volume precision components, sub-assemblies, solar cells and solar
modules.

Job Summary:

Responsible for set-up and operation of manual Bridgeport/EZ-Track and Manual Lathe.

Essential Functions:

1. Sets up and operates manual Bridgeport/EZ-Track and manual lathe.
2. Operate and set-up surface grinder.
3. Optimize Process to achieve maximum efficiency.
4. Receive daily instructions from production supervisor and plan day accordingly using the Shop Floor Control System.
5. Clock in and off operations according to sequence number start date of the work order.
6. Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper gauges.
Perform daily maintenance check on machines and report concerns to Production Supervisor.
8. Use proper feed and speed for maximum efficiency.
9. Deburr work in process.
10. Train new hires or apprentices.
11. Follows all safety policies and procedures.
12. Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
13. Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.

Peripheral Duties:

1. Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
2. Assists in formulating departmental strategic plan.
3. Serves as a member of various employee and organizational committees.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or GED. Preferable a Journeyman's card/ Four year apprenticeship program.
2. Must own tools supply for daily tasks (i.e. micrometers, indicators, edge finders, etc.)
3. Four years' experience either in a production or job shop environment.
4. Must be able to grind cutting tools, read and interpret blueprints and work order instructions, and understand set up and operation of surface grinder.
5. Must have a working knowledge of computers.
6. Must be able to take a verbal and written instructions and work from handmade sketches.

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
