Manager of Technology Architecture

Description:The Manager of Technology is responsible for leading the Architecture Group in the development of new technology, including high-performance memory systems, high-speed signaling, low-power systems, etc. The Manager is also responsible for personnel management of the architects performing these and related activities. Specific duties include:• Lead the technology-related activities in the Architecture Group:
oLead the exploration of new technologies related to high-speed signaling, high-performance memory architectures, low-power systems, and other leading-edge endeavors
oInvestigate opportunities for, and drive the creation of, intellectual property and patents
oInitiate and develop technology ?platforms? that can be used as the first steps toward technology products oCoordinate with other functional groups in the generation and validation of these technologies
oForecast resource needs and generate schedule estimates
oTrack related technology and methodologies oEncourage and assist in the filing of patent disclosures, patent applications, and other intellectual property
oAssist in the evangelization of Rambus technologies through the submission of technical papers and talks, customer visits, etc.• Manage a small group of technology architects:
oAssign/redeploy individuals to deliver the group?s tasks
oMonitor and coach individuals to aid in the delivery of their tasks
oHelp identify and negotiate individuals? annual goals
o Help identify and aid in achieving individuals? career paths
oPerform periodic individual performance reviews, with appropriate salary increases and/or promotions
oLead hiring/recruitment into the group to expand its capabilities
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:•BSEE or similar technical degree, Master?s or Doctorate degree preferred
•10 + years industry experience•3-5 years of experience managing leading-edge high-technology development, preferably in the field of computer architecture, high-speed signaling, memory system design, or similar
•Experience in research-oriented development highly desirable
•Must have experience in the generation of intellectual property. Ideally, the candidate will have applied for and recei ved approval for several patents
