Manager of Procurement / Purchasing

The Manager of Procurement / Purchasing position supports all TLT-Babcock business units. This person will direct the operation of the Purchasing Department in the purchasing of all materials, commodities and services required by TLT-Babcock to the proper specifications for the function intended, from the best qualified vendor, assuring that maximum return is obtained for each dollar spent, all within ethical purchasing practices and company policy.
Primary responsibilities include the following:
Purchase of raw material, fabrications, accessory equipment, supplies and service.
Establish qualified suppliers and obtain competitive quotations.
Review purchase requisitions to assure item is properly specified as to description and/or use.
Expedite purchase orders to assure required delivery is maintained.
Handle all requests for proposals, descriptive literature, visits of supplier representatives, plant visits, etc., involving our suppliers. Arrange and participate in meetings between suppliers and other departments.
Conduct surveys and market studies to determine price levels, trends, business activity and availability or required commodities.
Interprets and executes all Company policies as they pertain to the Purchasing function.
Reviews requirements, establishes qualified vendors, obtains and evaluates competitive quotes, places orders and/or negotiates long-term contracts for the most critical and complex commodities and services.
Establishes and directs operations of Purchase Order Status Reporting system.
Resolves discrepancies, including warranty claims, service, payment, etc., in the most complex and critical equipment situations.
Purchases all major capital equipment required.

REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering preferred.
Experience Needed: Minimum 7 – 10 years purchasing experience in related area.
