REQUIREMENTS
RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
* Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations directs and managers the Engineering, Purchasing, Maintenance and Safety functions by performing the following responsibilities personally and /or trough subordinate staff.
* Supervises and directs the activities of staff including Engineers, Maintenance & Purchasing.
* Identifies processes that require upgrading due to product quality, cost, regulatory requirements, and/or new engineering techniques.
* Manages installation of equipment and/or processes to ensure completion within time, cost, and specification parameters.
* Directs activities of maintenance department & helps to insure critical parts are in stock to minimize downtime.
* Coordinates OSHA compliance by preparing and updating required policies and procedures and trains staff on same.
*Directs activities of the safety committee holding monthly meetings and inspections.
* Conducts capital projects, which includes meetings with vendors to discuss products schedule; and overseeing completion of the project by personal involvement and direction of staff for completion.
* Responds to requests for a raw material & MRO items negotiating competitive prices within approved quidelines, and developing alternative cost effective sources for 3 domestic locations.
* Negotiates and maintains contracts for equipment services, energy, etc.
* Investigates and resolves defective incoming material reports and liaises with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure major raw material suppliers and appropriately audited.
