Pepco Energy Services is a leading provider of competitive energy and energy-related services for residential, small business, and large commercial customers.This position is responsible for managing and directing aerial and underground transmission engineering teams and support staff in the Pepco Holdings Transmission Engineering department. This position provides technical support and guidance in the leading, planning, budgeting, organizing, coordinating and executing of a variety of aerial and underground transmission engineering projects/activities across the PHI service territory. This position will be company liaison to outside groups, organizations, governments, utility and industry agencies, and regulatory bodies and will represent the Transmission engineering department in working with other departments, consultants and contractors to establish or review strategy, overall plans, budget, designs, methodology, solutions, etc. Conceives and initiates investigations into broad areas important to the success and mission of the department and the company. This position will be able to perform and interpret complex engineering, design requirements and/or economic data analyses for large and/or complex engineering projects. This position will be consulted by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on his/her interpretation and advice. Will provide support, guidance, expertise and training to ensure professional development.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience demonstrating skill supervising others to include conducting performance appraisals, ensuring professional development of others, providing coaching and corrective feedback towards attainment of corporate and group goals. Experience must be at least at the first line supervisor level.
Experience demonstrating skill performing complex transmission design work independently, effectively incorporating and applying engineering theories, economic analyses, industry/government codes and regulations, standards and practices related to engineering, procurement and construction. Includes the development of budget estimates and project schedules.
Experience demonstrating skill managing multiple complex transmission engineering projects and ensuring results and work of others, across different areas, departments, consultants, internal and/or external organizations, conforms to project requirements and deliverables (for example, timelines, budget, construction and design, in-service date).
Experience demonstrating skill designing (69-230kV) underground transmission circuits including relevant civil, environmental, structural, and electrical subsystems.
Experience demonstrating skill designing aerial (69-230kV) transmission lines and including relevant civil, structural, environmental and electrical subsystems.
Experience demonstrating skill negotiating, reviewing and administering agreements (for example, contracts with vendors, agreements with other agencies or co-ops, permits, construction agreements).
Experience demonstrating skill identifying, analyzing problems/issues (such as, resources, process, technology) related to transmission engineering and recommending solutions.
Experience demonstrating skill presenting oral and written results of engineering projects/assignments.
Experience demonstrating skill promoting and ensuring a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations (for example, OSHA, Sarbanes-Oxley).
Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and e-mail software to perform work functions.
Familiarity with basic functions of design software (for example, Visio, CAD, other engineering software).
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy or dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ability and willingness to work extended hours (including holidays and weekends) with little or no notice, on-call during storms and other system emergencies.
Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and work sites.
Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by federal, state, local and PHI regulations.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
