Manager-Supplier Quality
Position Title: Manager-Supplier QualityPrimary FunctionMinimize the variability of purchased materials through leadership and continual improvement of Supply Base Management, New Product Development, Strategic Sourcing , and Supply Chain processes.Specific ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute plans to improve the quality, delivery and cost of the global supply base.Implement and improve processes used to manage a global supply base supporting Global Faucets.Develop and track performance metrics for the supply base. Drive improvement.Develop and track performance metrics for the procurement process. Drive improvement.Train/mentor to create Lean / 6 Sigma and Quality Systems developments in the Supply base.Directly support the Supplier Selection process in Global Faucets.Directly support New Product Development, Quality Planning, Strategic Sourcing, Current Production and Improvement activities.Lead and/or support improvement of supplier quality and supply chain performance throughout Global Faucets and Kohler organizations.Own the implementation and improvement of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Pilot Build within the New Product Development (NPD) program.Develop staffing plans, resource requirements and budgets to support above objectives.Appraise, develop, and support staff, create training strategies and materials, to build a team to accomplish above objectives.Relationships and ContactsSupervisory Relationships:Reports direct to Director-Purchasing, Global FaucetsManages N.A. Global Faucets Supplier Quality Associates, with dotted-line responsibility for global Global Faucets Supplier Quality Associates.Organizational Relationships:Frequent contact with Global Faucets Procurement, Quality, and Design EngineeringFrequent contact with Kohler manufacturing operations and subsidiary locationsOccasional contact with U.A.W. representativesExternal Business Relationships:Frequent contact with suppliersAttend trade shows and seminars to improve skills and stay abreast of the latest quality and supplier quality management initiatives.Skill Level:Independently direct the supplier quality management tasks described with minimal input from supervision. The incumbent shall be capable of developing and applying supplier quality management techniques for supplier, product, and process improvement activities and actively developing knowledge of quality systems, product and process technologies. Performance provisions require the use of audit and investigative skills, and development of original inventive solutions to problems. The manager at this level is expected to facilitate a variety of supplier quality improvement activities.Education and ExperienceBachelor of Science Degree in a technical field (engineering preferred) with 10 + years of relevant quality experience, supplier quality management, quality systems development, and previous supervisory experience are required. Demonstrated change agent, who excels in a team environment, is customer focused and able to consistently measure performance and meet commitments. The incumbent shall be knowledgeable of supplier quality management methods and quality system requirements. Requires excellent problem solving ability, highly developed skills in oral and written communication, computer software, and statistical technique application. Global supplier audit experience, and familiarity with multiple manufacturing technologies are required. ASQ recognition as a Certified Quality Manager, or Certified Quality Engineer is highly desirable.
