Manager-Mechanical Engineering

The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, global leader in the manufacturing and marketing of high-quality confectionery products, has an immediate opening for a Manager, Mechanical Engineering
on its Global Engineering Team in Chicago.

This senior level engineering position is accountable for managing the Mechanical Engineering Group and its activities and functions to ensure the timely and efficient design of approved, initiated new machinery and projects.

In this critical role you will:
Manage the research and design activities of the Mechanical Engineering Group to ensure the timely completion of approved initiated and assigned new machinery and projects.
Provide guidance and instruction to staff as required to ensure projects are completed on time and meet all project specifications.
Conduct peer reviews to get the input from all engineers to maximize the effectiveness of the design and the probability of success.
Research, monitor, assess, and inform management of all existing packaging and related equipment in the market as applicable to the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company.
Research, design, and assemble machinery as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
Work with Corporate managers, including domestic and foreign managers, to provide machinery designed to meet their production requirements.
Keep abreast of current engineering technology and incorporate into practical machinery designs.
Work with marketing, R&D, Packaging Innovation and Supply Chain groups to support marketing plans and Operations needs.
Support the other Global Engineering Groups in developing and managing Global Engineering projects.
REQUIREMENTS


This position requires a self-starter with:
A BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
A minimum of 10 years' related experience in a machine design environment with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience (confections/food industry preferred).
Machine design knowledge, up-to-date high speed packaging design expertise as well as detailed knowledge of relevant machinery and equipment.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently for quality, cost, and time.
Computer proficiency which includes MicroSoft Office and 3D CAD
Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to be self directed, forward thinking and make complex decisions that drive business performance.
