MECHANICAL ENGINEER - MEDICAL DEVICE

Purpose: COMPANY INFO: Our client manufactures a complete range of craniomaxillofacial products, one of which is the first completely resorbable fixation system available in the U.S. Other of their products include titanium plates and screws for craniomaxillofacial fixation as well as a complete line of instruments for craniomaxillofacial and orthopedic procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for performing and/or coordinating product-engineering tasks for resorbable fixation products.

2. This position will involve development of new implants and instruments as well as supporting existing products.

3. Additionally, this individual will lead the effort to identify and commercialize new resorbable polymers for bone fixation and replacement.

4. Provide engineering support to both new product development and support of existing product offerings.

5. Coordinate with internal and external researchers for the development of future resorbable implant materials.

6. Lead product development teams tasked with delivering on-time products that exceed customer expectations.

7. Interface with medical professionals and company distributors to define customer requirements.

8. Create and maintain device history files per FDA, ISO and other applicable regulations.

9. Mentor Junior Product Development Engineers and Engineering Technicians.

10. A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience preferably in a medical device development role.

11. ***Experience with implantable polymers especially bio-resorbable
polymers strongly preferred.***

12. A proven track record of managing projects from concept to launch.

13. Experience with FDA and ISO 13485 device design requirements.

14. Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.

15. Must possess outstanding problem solving skills.

16. 3D CAD experience, preferably SolidEdge (SolidWorks or Pro-E would be acceptable as well)

17. BS or MS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related degree required.
