MANUFACTURING ENGINEER
Aeronca, Inc., located near I-75, midway between Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, adjacent to Middletown's Hook Field, is a major supplier of engine and nacelle components, aero-structures, and missile control surfaces for the military and for original equipment manufacturers in the US and Europe.
Aeronca is seeking a degreed, MANUFACTURING ENGINEER to help with the following:
Performs Planning for the organization, with preparation for release of planning documents, for detail, lot time, subassembly, and unit time assembly; prepares production schedules for manufacture of aerospace parts in accordance with company, customer and federal standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Identifies new or improved tools or equipment for operations such as drilling, fastening, trimming, grinding, welding, etc. Works through Purchasing to contract potential suppliers and arranges demonstrations or trials of proposed item. Upon satisfactory trials, prepares equipment requests, together with justification, and provides them to the using department supervisor for processing.
Reviews, evaluates, and updates manufacturing methods to provide improved quality and reduce cost.
Writes manufacturing Technical Directives (MTD) to provide an in-depth description of special manufacturing processes. These are used to provide additional detailed information to be used in conjunction with planning work orders to assure proper implementation of process and/or engineering specifications.
Assumes project leadership position on assigned programs. In this capacity, is responsible for the coordination of all events between Aeronca departments to assure schedule and cost objectives are met.
Works with Engineering Research and Development groups in the development of new processes. Also recommends development efforts for improved manufacturing processes.
Reviews Aeronca generated drawings and makes recommendations for improved producibility.
Works with Manufacturing to identify the cause and corrective action, as necessary, to correct nonconforming discrepancies.
Identifies new or modified equipment requirements in support of Marketing proposal efforts. Initiates the identification of area requirements for the proposed program.
Works with Tooling and prepares the initial preplanning efforts on new programs. Determines the manufacturing methods and establishment of tooling concepts.
May direct the activities of other assigned manufacturing engineers.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS Include:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, or equivalent, with six years related experience in one of the following fields:
welding, brazing, composites, machinery, drilling or fastening applications and equipment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
