MAINTENANCE
SUPERINTENDENT
Allegheny Ludlum Corporation, a world leader in the technology, production and marketing of specialty materials, is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent for our New Castle, Indiana finishing facility.
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. The Individual we seek will direct, manage, and coordinate all maintenance activities having responsibility for safety, productivity, and quality of all maintenance operations. Individual will consistently drive the development and improvement of Preventive/ Predictive Maintenance Programs.
Manage preventative maintenance contractors, including but not limited to mechanical rigging, electrical troubleshooting, crane inspection and fire system inspection. Serve as Project Manager for major maintenance projects.
Manage maintenance contracts, including but not limited to HVAC, cleaning contractor, lawn maintenance and snow removal. Track and report activity related to performance measure of equipment, including but not limited to maintenance activities, oil consumption and major plant downtime.
Work closely with operations supervisors, planners, and purchasing personnel on a daily basis. Routine interaction occurs with vendors and contract personnel.
Ensure contract and personnel issues are handled uniformly throughout the department, and work with local USWA representative to resolve grievances within the maintenance organization.
A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or other equivalent experience and education is required.
A minimum of five years of maintenance management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Expertise in primary steel mill or other metals-producing equipment is preferred. Experience in a union environment is a plus. Experience with JD Edwards Maximo system is a plus. An understanding of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and ISO concepts desired.
Successful candidates will have proficiency with personal computers and effective oral and written communication skills required. The ability to summarize and present clear and concise reports required.
