Lead System Development Engineer

Purpose: Aerotek Engineering has an immediate need for a Lead System Development Engineer to work with our client in the Annapolis, Maryland area.

Qualifications:

*Serve as engineering lead and primary technical liaison to the customer to manage and assist in:

*Hands-on technical direction in the development of software solutions for Navy shipboard automated Damage Control applications using an IEC 61131-3 compliant development language in a softPLC execution environment.
*Capture and translation of customer requirements into allocated software specifications and requirements.
*Participation in the design, development, coding, unit testing and documentation of component-level software.
*Support planning and execution of integration testing for the developed software into a larger software system and environment.
*Assist in the improving software development processes under CMM Level III.
*Perform special project assignments and other related duties as assigned or required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

*Comfortable working occasionally in a shipboard machinery room environment

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (MANDATORY)

*Familiar with surface Navy damage control practices and applications either from active-duty military experience (e.g. former DCA) or from prior defense contract project experience.
*B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline
*8-12+ years of experience in developing control applications
*IEC 61131-3 compliant PLC or softPLC software development environment
*IEEE 12207 software development, test, and documentation
*Experience with large software systems design and development
*Self-motivated, confident individual with strong interpersonal skills to work with international and multi-site/multi-company teams
*Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills
*Willing and able to travel in U.S and internationally
*Able to qualify for U.S. Government Secret security clearance
