Lead Developer (0754)

Basic Function:
As part of M&T's Central Technology Integration Department and Relation Systems team that Provides designs, specifies information systems solutions and highly technical direction in the development of new or existing programs to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements for many of the core areas within M&T Bank.
Acts as a principal application designer for major modifications effectively using analytical skills, technical skills, available technology and tools in the evaluation of client requirements and processes.Provides solutions that are technologically sound. Perform day-to-day support activities and special projects.Directs and monitors the activities of junior staff.
Responsibilities:
Interacts with systems analysts, operations staff and IT staff in overall systems development.
Maintains a good understanding of the business being supported and its functions, processes, operations and strategic directions and obtain a strong working knowledge of the HOGAN system.Monitors employee performance and may prepare annual appraisals.Programming in COBOL and CICS
Performs day-to-day support activities and special projects.Provide 24 hour on call support of system
The Sr. Staff Specialist is competent to work independently on all high-level systems analysis and technical phases of development
The Sr. Staff Specialist is capable of managing the activities of others on a project basis for small to large scope efforts and may lead project activities.Monitors staff performance on assigned projects with regards to their overall abilities and effectiveness in completing project within schedules.Interacts with Senior Management, other technology personnel, clients and vendors.Basic Qualifications:
4-year degree in programming or related subject and 10 years experience in programming
Strong knowledge of COBOL and CICS
Requires a complete understanding of the system development life cycle.Requires experience with state of the art application development support software and hardware platforms and proficiency in multiple programming languages.Ideal Qualifications:
HOGAN experience helpful
Database structure experience/knowledge would be a plus.
2-year college degree a minimum of 10 years related programming experience. Candidate with out a college degree would need at least 15+ years of professional programming experience.
Knowledge of VSAM and TSOClient Server skills a plus
