Lead Application Developer

SUMMARY: Under general direction, formulates/defines system scope and objectives. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs and documents those programs. Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities. May be responsible for completion of a phase of a project. Regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced analyst/programmers.

DUTIES:
The Lead Application Developer supports Nash Finch Company’s data warehouse and system integration initiatives. This position will provide the data modeling and ETL support of in-flight data and integration projects for the data warehouse team. The position assists the developers in the strategies of transforming the data mart environment to a supportable data warehouse and of application/system integration and interface development. The individual defines and designs end-to-end interfaces encompassing legacy, EAI, and package applications. The position develops end-to-end technical specifications and unit and system/integration test plans. 10% travel required.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelors degree in IT or a related field preferred.
· Strong background in developing data models for an enterprise data warehouse and dependent data marts.
· Candidate must be able to model in third normal form and star schema.
· Ability to take business requirements and convert them to a logical model and perform model walk-thorough with the business community.
· Develop and document standards and procedures for data modeling in a data warehouse environment.
· Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work as a cross-functional team member with the Business Analyst and Project Office teams.
· Strong background in ETL development of interfaces specifically using IBM Websphere (Ascential) DataStage.
· This position requires a hands-on applications developer/designer with a minimum of 7 years experience in Ascential DataStage and relational database design and modeling for DB2, Oracle, SQL Server and/or Informix.
· Also required is 3-5 years experience with Cognos ReportNet, and/or other report development tools.
· Experience with ERWin data modeling software, LDAP development/design, and/or ESSBase is a plus.
