LAN/WAN Administrator

Classification: Full Time Compensation: $80,000 to $90,000 per year Robert Half Technology is seeking a skilled systems and network administrator with experience provisioning and maintaining high-availability Internet services. Our client is a privately owned Seattle-based technical services company providing custom web development and hosting services to local, national, and international clients.
As a key member of the team, you will have primary responsibility for the smooth operation and security of their two hosting operations in Seattle. Your duties will include care and feeding of more than two dozen Sun Sparc/Solaris 8 and x86/Solaris 10 servers providing web hosting, DNS, mail, and database services to our clients.
You will monitor and manage our Cisco PIX firewall, VPNs, and other network assets, including backup devices, to ensure a secure, stable environment that complies with their client SLA obligations for operations. You will also manage their secondary hosting operation, located in their Seattle offices, which is primarily an Intel/Linux footprint but does have some Win32 assets.
Your demonstrable skills in working with developers troubleshooting and performance tuning a variety of web-based applications using Java, Perl, and PHP are highly desirable. They use Oracle, mySQL, PostgreSQL and Solid RDBMS in various contexts, your experience in managing these platforms will make you a more desirable candidate. They host mail services for many clients; please be prepared to discuss your experience in maintaining a robust solution to provide these services particularly in the context of defending against spam.Experience in requisite skill sets necessary to perform the tasks above is a requirement. If you are the sort of person we are looking for, you already know what those skills are.You will report to the Director of Operations but have daily dealings with a wide array of staff and clients. A successful candidate will be able to deal with distractions and questions in a cheerful, professional manner.You will need to communicate clearly using English in both oral and written form.
