Title: Java Software Developer
Location: Northern CA, Bay Area
Compensation: $90k - $110k

Job Description:
· Verify and work against functional requirement specifications.
· Design technical solutions that match the requirements.
· Write technical specifications that meet the requirements and describe the technical solutions.
· Develop structured, robust and well-documented software according to our standards.
· Assure software quality by developing and executing test plans
· Technical mentoring and management of junior team members

Software focus:
· Integration with messaging and payments platforms (often mobile carrier’s systems)
· Enterprise Java Beans
· Thread programming
· Networking / socket programming
· Implementation of networking protocols
· Programming against relational databases

The evolutionary nature of our client’s platform requires investigation and utilization of new and interesting software technologies.

Project work -. The Java Developer will be expected to take a high level of responsibility throughout the projects, which will include writing specifications, creating architectures and developing and testing applications.

Technologies - Java, HTTP, EJB, HTML, JSP, XML, SQL, Perl, Postgresql-databases, MySQL-databases and Oracle-databases.

Travel - The position will include some travel and occasionally may spend up to a month at a time overseas.

The position includes technical mentoring and supervision of other software engineers in the local team.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills:
· Excellent knowledge of Java development
· Good knowledge of Java Enterprise Beans
· Good knowledge of JSP development
· Good knowledge of Perl development is desired but not mandatory
· Excellent knowledge of SQL
· Basic knowledge of HTML
· Good knowledge of writing technical specifications and design documents
· Strong motivation and an ability to manage projects with a commitment to quality
· Ability to work under pressure and flexible to working additional hours where working commitments dictate
· Ability to work structured according to our software development processes
· Ability to technically mentor and organise junior team members.
· Strongnterest in technology and Java development
· Good communication skills (written and verbal)
· Fluent in English

Experience:
· 5 years experience working as a Java developer
· 3 years experience working with Databases
· 3 years experience of writing technical specifications
· 2 year experience of technical supervision
· Experience within telecommunications in general and SMS-techniques in particular is a plus
· Experience with Wireless SMS solutions is an advantage
· Experience with socket level protocol development is an advantage
