Java Engineer

Job Title: Java Developer / Software Engineer
Location: Santa Monica
Employment type: Permanent, Full-TimeCandidates must have all of the following requirements:
Ability to balance short-term requests with long-term product vision
5+ years of web application software development experience using Java
3 years of development and scripting experience in a LINUX/UNIX environment. RedHat Linux development experience is preferred, including .rpm and kickstart configurations
Strong Java programming skills, including object-oriented and UML design techniques
Experience deploying Java software with Tomcat
Database engineering experience including complex joins, and schema design & development
Expert-level Perl skills, particularly with web-application development of cgi s, and ideally mod_perl
Very strong SQL programming skills
Very strong HTML skills, including multi-platform support, style sheets, and JavaScript
Previous user-interface development experience, including workflows, presentation-layer design, branding and data abstraction
Experience with source control systems, such as CVS and Apache Struts Application Framework
BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experienceRequirements that are strongly preferred:
Experience working in an organization focused on consumer-facing services, preferably an ISP or WISP
Oracle and MySQL experience is a plus
