Instrumentation Engineer - Aerospace

JOB DESCRIPTION

Incumbent will be performing a number of tests involving strain gages placed around an aircraft that measure stress levels on the aircraft. These instruments or sensors will be calibrated constantly to increase stress on particular parts of the aircraft. Incumbent will use closed loop DC servo values to control the amount of oil being placed in jacks that hold the aircraft. Incumbent will use load cells to measure the load for feedback to the controller. Also, use test equipment that will gather test data, which is called a data acquisition(company is converting to a new system built by HBM). They now use a system built by MTS and FCS. This system is a called a load control system which puts unique load cases applied to an aircraft.

Incumbent will start with load cases, where they look at engineering data from the test and move to pressurization tests, vibration tests, ultimate tests, and later fatigue tests. All of this information is filtered back to models of the aircraft to determine if the design and model can with stand different stresses put on the aircraft. If they fail, the model or design is redone to handle the stresses they need.

Necessary tools are c, c++, VB, labview, or labwindow to display data from the instruments.

MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF A BACHELORS DEGREE AND 3 YEARS OF APPLICABLE EXPERIENCE WITH AN AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURER OR AEROSPACE SUPPLIER
