Information Security Systems Engineer

The Information Security Systems Engineer would concentrate on all aspects of both the Internet architecture (DMZ, Web Servers, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, Site to Site WANs, etc.), and Intranet architecture (Desktops, Internal Infrastructure, Telecomm, LAN, etc.) in the Enterprise as it relates to data security and data integrity. The Systems Engineer will interact in a team of individuals that monitor the daily security issues and Change Management (from a security or data integrity viewpoint) needs of those systems. This position will also pro-actively research new security methods, new systems, and attack patterns.

Essential Functions:
Achieve a high level of proficiency in all aspects of data protection, and system security for the Internet architecture.
Work on the Internet or Intranet architecture with Networking and Sys Admins to help bridge the gap with system performance and security as relates to application development, network engineering, Change Control, and other associated IT aspects. Document all findings and exceptions.
Create, monitor, and administer periodic security reviews on the Internet architecture access, control, and connectivity. This would contain all relevant questions / checklists of external audits and would be used to monitor audit compliance.
Create periodic reports detailing key system security features that are review able by IT Senior Management.
Train and cross train InfoSec team members on Internet/Intranet Architecture security issues.
Review software (custom and third party) for security issues before it is installed in Production on the Internet Architecture systems.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in information security responsibilities.
Monitor the Help Desk queue for issues pertinent to the position.
Occasionally assist with other aspects of the Company*s business, such as Customer Assistance, when requested. Participate in corporate investigations as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of credit card and / or financial industry desirable.
Advanced working knowledge of security mechanisms within the assigned system
Demonstrated project management skills necessary.
Familiarity with enterprise management tools and auditing tools is a plus.
Personal computer skills with a general knowledge of standard office word-processing tools (MS products) are required.
Effective written/verbal communication skills are necessary in order to communicate with all levels of personnel (from end-user to senior management). Ability to read, to analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to apply analytical and interpersonal skills to solve problems across a broad range of situations. Ability to provide a take direction in the absence of instructions.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Basic knowledge of standard computing platform configurations (networks, midrange/mainframe, and telecommunications) is desired.

Education & Work Experience:
Bachelor*s degree and/or 5 or more years Information Technology experience with a specific focus on system administration or security.
Minimum of five years experience in system administration
Three or more years of Linux experience
Four or more years experience adminstering Active Directory
Three years experience using Perl, Mysql, MSSQL, Oracle, Shell scripting
