IT Production Support Enginner

Marshall & Swift, the worldwide leading provider of building cost technologies since 1932 is seeking an IT Production Support Engineer

This position is responsible for product implementation, configuration changes, application support & maintenance, and troubleshooting to meet the needs of our production application(s) housed out of either our New Berlin WI or Los Angeles, CA offices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
Performs a combination of the following duties according to departmental guidelines for Production support Engineer:
•Level I expertise:
oInstalls upgrades and configures software and database systems as required by clients after business hours (2nd shift, 3 says per week)
oResponds to the needs and questions of users concerning their access to the production software environments (on call support)
oWork closely with the Network Operations Center (NOC) staff to monitor correct, report and document all production errors.
•Application / Entry-level Database expertise
oWorks with Development and SQA to obtain software and coordinate testing.
oAnalyzes existing system and programming logic to provide more efficient machine operations or to identify difficulties, and revises the logic and procedures involved as necessary.
oStays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and the Insurance Industry
oProduction Support Engineer escalates problem they cannot resolve or that are unusual to Sr Production Support Engineer.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
•AS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Management or equivalent experience.
•1-2 years of Systems, Admin, DBA Support implementation, or support experience for client/server/Internet based “custom application” in Microsoft environment.
•Experience with providing application support in a 24x7 environment

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
•1-2 years System Administration (Microsoft) at high level I.
o1- 2 years experience with Windows 2000 Server
oTwo (2) years experience with Internet Information Server
oUnderstanding of http 1.0 / 1.1 protocol
•One year of experience with SQL Server 2000 Database Server Administration (or SQL Training in lieu of experience)
oKnowledge concept of generation of T-SQL scripts and DTS Packages
oKnowledge concept of MTS/Component Services Configuration
oFunctional knowledge of SQL
oDatabase performance & SQL tuning experience
oPractical implementation experience of schemas and stored procedures
oUnderstanding of core DB components, including replication
•Problem resolution duties
oApplication Production Support Experience
o1-2 years experience working in a support environment
oPractical knowledge of problem management tools
