HIRING ORGANIZATION: University of Wisconsin–Stout
SALARY: $42,799-$66,448 per year, based on qualifications plus excellent benefits. This position is represented by the Fiscal and Staff bargaining unit. A six-month probationary period will be required.
JOB DUTIES: This position provides Information Systems (IS) expert guidance, advice and technical services which require advanced system analysis and programming skills, communication skills, project management skills, and thorough knowledge of the business processes being supported. This position follows and performs work on projects that have been identified by the priority setting guidelines within the department. They provide software support to staff using Colleague, the college’s administrative software system and UW-Stout’s Data Warehouse environment. Tools include Unidata’s Unibasic, Uniquery and Datatel’s Envision Tool-Kit software to develop complex queries, complex custom reports, programs and screens and Informatica and Hyperion for Data Warehouse development and reporting as well as provide technical support to university personnel. The position directs and serves as a campus IS technical authority on the difficult and complex mission critical application systems that relate to the data warehouse, reporting systems and the Datatel Colleague System. Responsibilities extend to contacts outside UW-Stout which includes UW-System, UW Processing Center (UWPC), and Datatel. This position serves system users in these departments as the primary authority for initiating all system changes and problems by providing direction, guidance and consultation on Information Systems technical issues in determining the most feasible solution to customer problems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of system analysis and design techniques; computer applications, systems programming and database management system principles; SQL based database management systems (i.e. SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Unidata, etc.); relational database models and database concepts; application development tools and languages, especially in an ERP or transactional systems environment (i.e. Envision, Unibasic, SQL, Java, C++, COBOL, PeopleTools, etc.); ERP or transactional systems and how they relate to systems and databases (i.e. Datatel, Peoplsoft, SAP, legacy systems etc.); project management concepts, techniques and tools; and reporting tools (i.e. Hyperion, Crystal Reports, Access, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.). The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form; learn new computer languages and software; adapt to an ever-changing environment; multi-task and meet multiple project deadlines; and work independently and/or work as a team member on assigned projects is required. This position also requires excellent analytical and organizational skills. A well-qualified applicant will have a Bachelor's Degree in an IT or related field.
