I/E Reliability Engineer

The Olefins and Polymers, USA division of INEOS is one of the largest producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America. From its manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou, Battleground Manufacturing Complex, and Carson, California, it is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene and high-density polyethylene with annual revenue of over $4b. The Chocolate Bayou Site is located in Southeastern Texas about 40 miles South of Houston (near Alvin, TX), and consists of two Olefin units that produce approximately 3bn pounds/year of ethylene, three Polypropylene units that produce approximately 800m pounds/ year of polypropylene, and a storage & transfer facility at Stratton Ridge. The Battleground Site is located in La Porte Texas off of the ship channel. It consists of 3 Polypropylene units and 7 Polyethylene units totaling around 6 billions pounds of Polyolefins.

The INEOS Chocolate Bayou Plant is looking for two (2) Electrical Engineers to become members of the I/E Reliability Team. The Reliability Team consists of engineers and specialists who report to the I/E Reliability Team Leader. These positions will support assets at Chocolate Bayou Works located in Alvin, Texas.

Roles and Responsibilities

The I/E Reliability Engineer maintains and improves the safety and availability of instrumentation and electrical systems throughout the site by the use of predictive and preventative maintenance programs and sound judgment. The main goal of the engineers is to maximize unit availability and to minimize fixed costs associated with repairs to equipment. To achieve these goals the I/E Reliability Engineer:

•Works with Maintenance to resolve repeat failures, high cost repairs and/or unusual failures
•Identifies and documents spare parts for SAP
•Works with Engineering to select and specify new equipment for projects
•Leads root cause failure analyses (RCFAs) for electrical failures
•Establishes PM programs for critical motors, transformers, MCCs, etc.
•Assists Team Leaders and Specialists with development of repair plans and Job Notes for shop repair of instrumentation and electrical equipment
•Tracks instrumentation and electrical “bad actors” and through a RCFA process develops options to improve availability
•Participates in HAZOP and MOC processes
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a BSEE and a minimum of three years experience. Prefer candidates with petrochemical plant experience; however, will consider candidates with other relevant experience.

Electrical

•Experience with SKM power tool software is a plus
•Ability to troubleshoot motor controls through 4160 volts
•Size conduits, cables for motors, MCCs, feeders, etc.
•Work with outside vendors on coordination, load flow, arc flash and other studies related to the plant electrical system

Instrumentation

•Experience with Triconex PLCs is a plus
•Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation loops from field to DCS systems
•Design and program control and interlock systems
•Size and select instruments and control valves
