Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced helicopters for commercial, industrial and military uses. Sikorsky helicopters are used by all five branches of the United States armed forces, along with military services and commercial operators in more than 40 nations. Based in Stratford, Connecticut, USA, Sikorsky has outlying facilities in other Connecticut locations as well as in Florida and Alabama.
As the Huntsville Avionics Manager, supervise a cross functional team of avionics, electrical and software engineers to accomplish assigned work statement in accordance with standard work processes on schedule, within budget and with utmost quality. Primary work statement will be associated with Black Hawk program contracts including modifications and upgrades as well as business development and proposal activity. Responsibilities include technical and process leadership, resource management, and staff development.As a functional manager, the Huntsville Avionics Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the core technical competencies necessary to accomplish the contracted work statements. Responsibilities include enabling the sharing of knowledge across platform/program teams to foster lessons learned and best practices. The Huntsville Avionics Manager, together with the ASI management team has the responsibility to develop, maintain and improve engineering processes and ensure their instantiation on programs. Responsibilities include training and aligning the organization on the standard processes including use of the ACE tools and our commitment to CMMI.The Huntsville Avionics Manager will work with other Avionics Managers, Huntsville Management, Chief Engineers and Program Managers to develop and implement staffing plans to meet program requirements. In addition, they will participate in budget planning and negotiation for department expense and overhead budgets and will monitor progress to ensure that budget allocations are met.Finally, the Huntsville Avionics Manager is responsible to work with their direct staff for people development and career planning, employee assessments, salary planning and promotions.This position reports to the Director of Avionic Systems Integration and is matrixed to the Hawk Common Platform Team lead.
