This engineer will plan, schedule and coordinate new product development projects under moderate supervision. Activities will range from concept to design, test and release to production. Major focus will be gas-fired combustion design and test but also will be involved in dealing with overall product design. Evaluate new and existing materials and components for suitability with the design requirements. Lead the work of lab technicians, designers and others in the completion of their assignments. As a member of the product R&D group will be focused on new product development with duties ranging from interface with marketing on needs and possibilities in design, interface and communicate with production and mfg.The actual percentage of time on projects will break down something in general like: 50-60 % design and lab testing, 20% providing direction to designers and technicians, and 20% interfacing with other departments and 10% working vendors and agencies. Included in role is troubleshooting and conducting prototype testing in the lab and field. Responsible for design scheduling and budgeting. Construct test programs and manage testing personnel. Diagnose issues in field applications when the product may not be performing as expected. In general with have 2-3 projects running at the same time, although in various stages of development.
Diversity of tasks and often multiplicity of projects keeps things interesting and challenging. The corporation has an excellent reputation in developing new products for residential gas heating.
The R&D group is a good group of people to work with and the dept. has a great depth of talent in many areas of technology.
Corporation will spend money to do projects, not like some companies that expect work done on a shoestring. Position has excellent visibility.

BSME with 3 or more years experience with design of some type of gas-fired appliance, HVAC, water heater or furnace. Will consider MSME with 1 year industry experience if thesis work related to heat transfer and thermal for similar industry such as appliances or HVAC/R products or components. Must have some design skills with solid modeling cad package such as ProE for mechanical design and analysis uses.
Must be U S citizen, Permanent Resident or H-1 visa holder. (no interest in student visa holder)
REQUIREMENTS
