GIS Specialist / GIS Technician
Purpose: Aerotek Engineering seeks candidates with experience in all aspects of GIS mapping and surveying. Two positions available in the Raleigh, NC area.
GIS TECHNICIAN:
This position collects, creates, edits, operates, maintains, analyzes, distributes and plots simple and complex GIS/ GPS data. This position will also acquire, interpret, and manipulate geographic data and geodatabases according to project needs.
Requirements for GIS TECHNICIAN:
Associates Degree in a related field with two years of experience in GIS mapping, GPS, survey, and using ESRI GIS software (preferably ArcGIS 9.1). A wide range of computer skills including CAD applications is a plus. Periodic fieldwork is required. Salary is dependant on qualifications and experience.
GIS SPECIALIST:
Requires knowledge of ArcGIS 9.1 and Microstation and a demonstrated ability to use GIS and CAD software to compile new data, access existing information and convert data to digital form. Knowledge of technical standards, specifications, techniques and procedures for establishment of GIS data. Knowledge of basic principles for mapping production and design ability to provide detailed written documentation including metadata and other instruction standards, and specifications in a clear, concise and well-structured manner. Must be able to convey GIS information to engineering staff and interact cooperatively with colleagues in order to develop project requirements, identify and coordinate user needs and gather and share information. Must be self motivated and able to organize time and work efficiently, organize and maintain tabular and spatial data for fast retrieval, collaborate effectively as part of a team to produce project deliverables and develop ideas for the application of GIS.
Requirements for GIS SPECIALIST:
Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, or Engineering and two years combined experience using ESRI products and Bentley Microstation OR an Associates degree and 4 years combined experience using ESRI products and Microstation. GPS software/ hardware experience is beneficial. Applicant must be able to work in a fast paced environment and demonstrate proficiency with ArcGIS 9.1 Periodic fieldwork is required.
