GIS Specialist

Purpose: A midstream company in the Dallas, TX area is looking for a GIS Specialist to start a contract to hire position immediately.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Provide leadership and technical skills necessary to proactively develop, implement and maintain GIS data management and mapping systems as related to company assets.

SCOPE AND MAGNITUDE:

Provide Team success to spatial data development, manipulation, analysis and mapping of all the companies pipelines and facilities via ESRI and company database systems.

POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Provide data development and organization of GIS in Dallas Headquarters (100%).
Design, develop, implement and supervise geo-database mapping and relational reporting system (60%)
Ensure GIS Team follows database and mapping methodology standards (100%).

Maintain standards and documentation for all GIS applications (20%).
Coordinate with IT Team to implement GIS company-wide data access and mapping usage (40%).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / MIS or Geography related field.


EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications):
Six years (min) experience with GIS Bachelors or- four years (min) experience with GIS Masters.

****Must have a confident ability in trouble-shooting experiences with ArcSDE issues in SQL Server (both GUI level and command line), and writing SQL's in Microsoft Access. At lease 2-3 years experience building databases from various data sources as in CAD conversion.



Software:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook, Frontpage); GIS software: ArcInfo 8.x workstation (ArcEdit, ArcTools, ArcPlot, GRID); ArcGIS (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox); ArcView and extensions such as Network, 3D, CAD, and Spatial Analyst; Intermediate to advanced knowledge of AML , SQL, ArcSDE, AutoCAD, SQL Server, html, MapInfo, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop. Adaptable to new software.

General:
Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal, analytical, and project management skills. Quality and detailed
oriented. Ability to communicate analysis through written, and oral presentations.


This position is a 6 month contract to hire placement. During the contract period the salary range will be $50 to $55K. After the contract period, the salary range will be $60 to $65K.
