GIS/Programmer

The individual in this position will develop software code in support of ChoicePoint’s operational information systems as well as developing applications to support the integration of external data into the current iMapData supported databases.

Position Responsibilities:

Programming Functions:

•Design and develop core application components for the iMapData product
•Create Web Services to meet client requests to allow remote application to communicate with iMapData
•Participate in design meetings/client meetings to determine system requirements and determine design of components
•Design and develop client web forms and web page layouts for iMapData product including communication with the map-viewer
•Prepare fixes to coding discrepancies
•Perform unit level testing of developed software routines
•Prepare documentation of software routines

GIS Functions:

•In-depth understanding of spatial data formats and the tools to perform data transformations.
•Processing tasks in either a database environment (such as SQL Server or MS Access) or in a GIS environment (such as MapIfo) which may include filling in attributes, combining geographies based on attributes etc.
•Development of map layers (referring to data on our sites) and client site set-up using a variety of GIS and related tools, including AutoDesk MapGuide Author, MapInfo, SQL Server and various customer software products
•Maintenance, modification and enhancements of existing data layers and GIS applications
•Make recommendations as to the best way to display and/or report data
REQUIREMENTS
Education:

•Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
•Preferred: Degree in Computer Science and/or
Geography/GIS

Experience & Training:

•Required GIS:
oExperience in the GIS field (ex MapGuide, Author, MapInfo, ArcGIS or a comparable GIS development platform)
oFamiliarity with spatial data formats

•Preferred GIS:
oCartography/mapping experience
oFamiliarity with data from government sources, particularly US Census data
oExperience with on or more of the following: SQL Server, Oracle, MS Access

•Required Programming:
oDevelopment experience utilizing language or related technologies

•Preferred Programming:
oDevelopment experience with Windows Server and Microsoft Web Technologies

Specific Skills:

•Required: One required key language: C#, ASP.NET, SQL/sql Server, JavaScript, HTML
•Preferred: Language design and coding skill, XML/XSLT,UI Design and Application Usability Issues
