At Varian, Inc. we're inspired by our customers, and strive to inspire others in all we do.Function: Field ServiceProduct Area: NMR SystemsResponsibilities: Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installations, as well as seeing/reviewing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
Coordinates and performs the placement, diagnostic test process, commissioning, and customer acceptance and training criteria of super-conducting magnets.
Inspects and performs diagnostics on assembled, installed, or repaired equipment to verify conformance to company standards and customer criteria.
Examine premises to ensure all safety consideration are maintained and monitored. Reviews the Risk Assessment with the contractor regarding the High Magnetic Fields, and the utilization of Liquid Cryogens.
Review product specifications to determine work procedures, obtain materials and equipment as needed, contract local contractors as needed for load dispatching, machining, fabrication, and shipments of product components as required to complete the job assignment.
Prepare daily operating reports summarizing labor activities, materials required, equipment utilization and modifications, definition of sub contractor activity required and report of changes incurred.
Up to 80% worldwide and US travel is required, typically 70%. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
1. Five-year college or university program in Physics or Engineering; or three to four years related experience, such as cryogenics or electrical engineering, preferred and/or training.
2. Proven test/installation experience in manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.CB
