Field Service Engineer, Biacore
Business Unit: GE HealthcareFunction: ServicesResponsibilities: Provide a high level of service support (installation, preventive maintenance and emergency service) to customers in assigned territory (NJ, NY, Swiftwater PA). Support outside territory where required. Contribute to the company growth objective by selling and promoting service products (including; service contract, preventive maintenance visits, software upgrades, software licenses), consumable products (accessories) and passing on system/instrument leads to the local sales representative. Perform installations of equipment sold by Biacore within a time period, from receipt of product to completion of work, acceptable to the customer company. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance visits of Biacore equipment while minimizing traveling cost by efficiency scheduling other visits within the assigned territory. Perform on site repairs of Biacore equipment while meeting the company's guidelines for response time and call completion time. Maintains ability and service expertise to correctly diagnose system problems to an appropriate repair level determined by the company When performing field services; service calls, preventive maintenance visits and installations; the individual updates the customer's computer with current software versions with respect to Biacore related software products. Share service experiences with other field service personnel, manager, team members (sales and applications) and parent company. Monitors and tracks product quality. Assess quality status of products and inform parent company and other field service engineers. Strives to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by providing follow-up telephone calls or courtesy visits especially for those customers who have had intermittent or difficult instrument repairs . Assist, if necessary, in service support outside assigned territory to include service call, preventive maintenance visit, installation and telephone support.~HJ~
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: 2 years prior field service experience with a highly complex technical product line Associate's degree in electronics or equivalent from two-year college or technical school Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft software (Excel, Outlook, Word) and other software packages. Willing to travel outside assigned territory; including international travel* Willing to submit to background check and drug screen* Clean driving and motor vehicle recordDesired: * BS degree in Electronics, Engineering, Life Sciences preferred* 2 years of field level experience in Life Sciences industryGeneral: Provide a high level of service support (installation, preventive maintenance and emergency. Promotes the sale service contracts, preventive maintenance visits, software, upgrade kits, software licenses, consumable products and advises or assists customers regarding policies on warranties. Informs Manager of factors affecting territory (quality issues, defective products, excessive or unusual service requirements, and upset customers). Maintains an adequate spare part inventory level as defined by the recommended spare part list and by replenishing parts used for repairs. Damaged/failed parts are to be returned to Biacore, Inc. as defined by spare part reimbursement policy. Keeps records of all activities performed and submits all reports complete, accurate and neat. Communicates with sales representatives and applications specialists of factors affecting customers within their territory. Works and communicates with other engineers, Manager, sales representatives and application scientists to share and discuss experiences, resolve problems.
