FPGA Design Engineer

Designs, develops, modifies, selects and/or specifies electronic product and/or components. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support product development. Requires a background in digital design and familiarity with FPGA's and VHDL coding.

Level 4, Staff Engineer:

·JOB LEVEL: Has a broad understanding in communications, i.e., cellular and wireless. Possesses full understanding of digital and analog design and company procedures; resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways, able to show other design options as solutions. Is recognized by the customer and company for technical knowledge and contributions. Able to demonstrate thorough understanding of development and implementation of digital and analog design. Understands system requirements for the program and interfaces with systems engineers.

·JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

·EXAMPLES OF WORK:

1.Performs as staff advisor to management

2.Briefs customers and supports marketing activities.

3.Assists in bid and proposal activities via cost and schedule estimates.

4.Will lead electronic design development on program tasks.

5.Will mentor and give technical guidance to lower level engineers.

·SUPERVISION: Determines methods and procedures on new assignments, and will provide guidance to other personnel.
REQUIREMENTS
-Typically requires a minimum of 8 to 12 years' experience and a BS degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.

-Requires a background in digital design and communication system design.

-Familiarity with FPGA's, VHDL coding, and RF design a plus.
