The Environmental Technician is a multi-skilled individual who performs various activities necessary to maintain efficient cleaning and supplying functions of assigned areas including measures to enhance the comfort and satisfaction of the patient, family and other Miami Valley employees.
NATURE AND SCOPE:The Environmental Technician works under the direction of and report to the Environmental Services manager. The Environmental Technician will respond promptly and directly to appropriate customers in their designated areas (i.e. Shift Managers, Nurse Managers, Office Managers, etc.). The Environmental Technician has the following responsibilities, which include, but a are not limited to:
1. CLEAN THE UNIT AND PATIENT ENVIRONMENT: Cleans and disinfects patient areas. Accomplishes heavy cleaning to contribute to unit appearance. Cleans and disinfects nursing unit Cleans and disinfects discharged rooms
2. ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY:Implements measures to promote a safe environment. maintains supplies and equipment. Maintains knowledge and training on all hazardous and infectious waste management.
3. PATIENT CARE:Assist with patient care related activities.Maintains appropriate communication related to all patients, visitors, and families.
4. CITIZENSHIP/TEAM SUPPORT: Demonstrates flexibility and self-direction by responding as a teamplayer. Helps to create a positive work environment that promotesproductivity.
5. DEVELOPMENT/JOB KNOWLEDGE:Development of Self.Development within Miami Valley Hospital.
6. CUSTOMER RELATIONS: ConfidentialityCustomer Relations/Ethics

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS :High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred). If not, applicant must successfully complete a pre-employment test.
Interpersonal skills, possess ability to communicate effectively, demonstrates compassionate spirit.
Successful completion of skill tests in the following areas: reading, writing, basic math and customer relations.
CPR certification optional (yet required if seeking sitter opportunities).
Passes pre-employment physical.
Successfully completes orientation an 3-month probationary period
