Due to needs at the lab, the following career opportunity is now available - ENTRY-LEVEL MECHANICAL ENGINEER (ENGINEER I) in the TECHNICAL DIVISION (TD)/MAGNET SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT.
Responsibilities
Fermilab is broadening its world-class program for the development and production of conventional and superconducting magnets for particle accelerators. Fermilab's TD is the leader of the U.S. program to build magnets for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We are one of the leading laboratories in the U.S. developing new superconducting magnets for the future such as International Linear Collider (ILC), Muon Collider, and other R&D efforts. The successful candidate will join a team of physicists, engineers and technicians and will play an important role in magnet design, fabrication and testing efforts.Essential Functions
Participate in the design, fabrication, testing and data analysis of conventional and superconducting accelerator magnets and their associated systems.
Be part of a development team of physicists, engineers and technicians, and will be expected to participate in all aspects of accelerator magnet development, including electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal and quench protection design; model fabrication oversight, testing of completed magnets and data analysis.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements
BSME and 2 years experience (MSME preferred).
Ability to work with ANSYS for mechanical and thermal analysis, ACAD or IDEAS CAD systems to fulfill assignments as well as work in a group.
Must possess a demonstrated record of accomplishment as evidenced by publications, reports, and presentations.
Good communications skills in English, both oral and written.
Experience or training in the field of superconducting magnets or accelerator technology is a plus.
