Engineering Test Techinician II or III

Engineering Test Techinician II or IIIWe are looking for a talented individual who can support our Mission and Purpose of being a self- sustaining, profitable communications company which positively impacts the lives of others today and in the future. The successful candidate must be able to perform complex technical tasks to assist engineers with electronic systems. Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing, solving complicated mechanical or electronics problems involved in the operation of the product. Assists in general laboratory work. Assists engineers with fabricating and assembling electronics subassemblies for prototype models from schematics, rough sketches, and verbal instructions. Performs calibration checks on electronic instruments. May completely troubleshoot an electronics system to determine cause and remedy for malfunctions. May provide work leadership to lower level technicians. This is the senior level position where work is distinguished by its technical complexity and diversity. Requires ability to use practical electronic theory, basic machine tools, and work from schematics and rough sketches. Performs assigned tasks within acceptable quality levels in accordance with IPC-610 Quality Standards. Performs assembly of prototype circuit boards and assemblies. Performs assigned tasks within established time standards. Keeps laboratory work area neat and orderly. Works from verbal instructions, draft design documents, assembly drawings, parts lists and wire lists. Able to carefully follow both written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks. Performs set-up and testing of units according to established test procedures, records test data and measurements. Operates standard and RF related test equipment. Identifies failures and troubleshoots down to component level within certain time restrictions. Performs work on SMT and through hole PCB assemblies as required. Identifies errors in assembly documentation, tests procedures or schematics and works with the assigned engineer or manager to correct errors as required. Trains new personnel as required, provides work leadership to lower level technicians. Performs system level testing on system configurations prior to shipment.
REQUIREMENTS
This position requires at least an AA degree or other pertinent technical education. Minimum 5 years experience in analog and digital electronics testing and troubleshooting. Minimum 3 years experience in “VHF” or “HF” radio testing and troubleshooting. Minimum 2 years experience performing system level testing on communications equipment. Ability to perform basic PCB work. Ability to read and interpret schematics and test procedures. Proficient in troubleshooting down to component level. Familiar with standard and “RF” related test equipment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Availability to work overtime. Individual must be detail oriented, accurate, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to manage a variety of tasks and meet multiple demands in a dynamic atmosphere, in addition to working with all levels of personnel and thrive in a team oriented environment. - Local Candidates Only – No relocation - EOE/AA/M/F/D
