Engineering Technician 2 - Concord

DUTIES: The engineering technician is responsible for field monitoring, recording, interpreting and reporting; and routine operation and maintenance of environmental restoration systems. Monitoring and recording may range from sample collection to accurately reading and logging data from field instruments. Interpreting and reporting may include performing standardized testing and calculations, data reduction, and limited report writing. Operation includes start, test and stop; and the routine adjustment and operation of mechanical, process and electrical equipment. Maintenance may include limited equipment adjustment and repair; routine housekeeping; and inventory control and timely material replenishment. Reporting includes preparing routine field reports; responding to incoming telephone calls and electronic messages; identifying and reporting unusual, unsafe or inefficient events; and responding to verbal or written requests as required.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 2-year technical degree, 2 years of a scientific or engineering degree program, or the equivalent applicable work experience. Must be computer literate and mechanically inclined using simple tools and field instruments. Must be able to work safely in both an independent or group environment. A valid California Driver's License, and reliable transportation is required.

CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of office and/or project field setting. Daily travel to local field office may be required. Ability to work independently with direction and as part of a team to complete the assignment is essential.
