Engineering Planner Staff

Standard Job Description: Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs. Determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets and schedules, and manpower requirements. Supports and participates in negotiations with customer. Analyzes effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the required resources. Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters. Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements.

Typical Minimums: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 10 years of professional experience; or 8 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.

Specific Job Description: Work closely with industry prime contractors, government program office personnel, and FFRDC technical staff to effectively integrate, maintain, and control schedules. Will assist in integrating risk handling plans into the Integrated Master Plan (IMP)/Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and support the team in resource loading, resource leveling, and developing resource variances reports. Participate in answering the widespread challenges of satellite and launch vehicle system at the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), located at the Los Angeles Air Force Base. Duties include schedule development and analysis for a major space program and system engineering branch. Schedule risk analysis and cost estimating experience a plus. Prior work at SMC a plus. Schedule management experience preferably with the Department of Defense or commercial aerospace programs. Familiar with systems engineering principles and practices. Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Project 2000 and Primavera Enterprise. Proficient in MS Office Suite. Work with IMP, IMS, work breakdown structures, and statements of work and determine how they interact. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work independently.
