Engineering Manager - Power Electronics

This is an engineering management position in Northern Power’s Product Group. In this position you will be responsible for managing creative and challenging product development and applied R&D projects to a schedule and a budget. You will be working in a team setting to develop technology and apply advanced power electronics solutions to the rapidly expanding Distributed Generation (DG) market. You will be working with multiple technologies such as wind turbines, advanced energy storage, photovoltaics, gas turbines, gensets, and fuel cells.Responsibilities:
Report to Chief Technology Officer
Manage Northern Power’s Power Electronics technology & product development programs
Provide leadership and management for a technical group
Participate in strategy and business development efforts
Manage and execute on a Technology Plan that extends our Power Electronics core competency
Manage and report on status of projects and budgets
Provide technical and application support to key customers
Represent Company at sales and technical conferences
Pursue and secure external funding of development programs
REQUIREMENTS
MSEE or equivalent with strong background in Power Electronics, and 10+ years relevant experience
Proven success in managing technical groups, projects, and budgets
Proven ability to perform in high-visibility, high-growth environments
Theoretical and practical knowledge of power electronics design for industrial applications
Direct experience with product development for industrial applications
Top level engineering and communications skills
The ability to work in a team setting and multitask across multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct design and market experience with power converters in the 50kW to 2000kW+ power range
Experience applying power conversion solutions in the DG field
Experience in both entrepreneurial and mid-to-large company settings
