Engineer-Sys Perf
The Engineer - System Performance is responsible for improving hourly system performance and optimizing the regional cellular system; reducing Lost Calls and Ineffective attempts; and delivering regional baseline results. Other responsibilities include: troubleshooting and resolving system problems that include, but are not limited to, handoff failures, frequency related issues, intermodulation, poor originations, radio and network blocking, high CDMA FER, poor EC/IO, low data rate and data capacity; troubleshooting and resolving customer service issues in a timely fashion; developing translations for new cell sites, cell site modifications, cell site re-homes, carrier additions, cell site upgrades or modifications as well as for new switching equipment; verifying and optimizing new network equipment to meet or exceed original network configurations; and providing test services in support. Proactively conducts long term planning to ensure long lead performance solutions are tracked and included in network upgrades/redesigns, and ensuring network performance maintains consistency with changing requirements and needs of the business. Supports RF design in the development and approval of new cell site search area locations as required for traffic needs, baseline needs, and other performance issues; and leads projects by coordinating teams; developing schedules; identifying action items; and completing deliverables on time and under budget.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience required Master's degree a plus
Experience or course work in RF, cellular or telecommunications industry
Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following platforms and/or technologies:
oSystem Performance including: RF System Optimization techniques for voice and data for Nortel, Motorola, and/or Lucent infrastructure
oSystem Design including: AMPS, CDMA, CDPD, 3G - Voice cells infrastructure including: Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, CDMA data
oTelecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP
oVoice switch infrastructure including: Lucent 5E and ECP, Motorola MGX, and Nortel MTX
oOperating systems and applications including: UNIX, Windows, MS Office
oWireless data service including: CDPD, CDMA, CSD, STP, RF Fingerprinting - Analog, CDMA, Flexent Modular cells (CDMA & PCS), RMT software, and 3G technology
oTest equipment including: T-Birds, DataPro, pilot scanners, baseline equipment, spectrum analyzers
Ability to demonstrate proficiency in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
Ability to demonstrate good analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to demonstrate good troubleshooting skills
Ability to demonstrate performance stability by performing the job functions with general guidance, and understanding the job and department's expectations and goals
